Wendy Rogers, a Bioethicist from Sydney Australia, examines a troubling statistical discrepancy between organ donation practices in Australia and China. Australia, using world-class standards, successfully retrieves viable livers from approximately 60% of donors, primarily brain-dead patients who offer optimal organ quality. China, however, reports an 80% liver retrieval rate despite relying predominantly on circulatory death donors, a method known to compromise liver viability. The speaker highlights this medical implausibility, suggesting something deeply inconsistent within China’s organ transplantation system, and raises serious questions about the true nature of their donor practices.

“Silent Harvest” is a documentary produced by the NGO, Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting. DAFOH is dedicated to ending forced organ harvesting and upholding ethical standards in medicine.

Ten years in the making, this film features in-depth interviews with more than a dozen of medical experts and victims around the world, including medical doctors, bioethicist Prof. Arthur Caplan, former Vice President of the EU parliament Edward McMillan-Scott (UK), world renown transplant surgeons Dr. Zain Khalpey and Dr. Jacob Lavee, Maria A. Fiatarone Singh, liver expert Dr. Christopher B. Hughes, Dr. Charl Els , Dr. Adnan Sharif and others.

“Silent Harvest is not just a film — it is a call to conscience,” said Torsten Trey, Founder and Executive Director of DAFOH. “For too long, this atrocity has been met with silence. Through the voices of courageous doctors, ethicists, and survivors, this documentary demands that the world finally confront and stop the industrialized killing of innocent people for their organs.”
